My art is a visual journal where I express thoughts, emotions, and anxieties through characters, stories, and imagined worlds. Inspired by pop culture, animation, and kawaii aesthetics, I create soft sculptures and wool-based imagery using vibrant colors, doll-like figures and whimsical characters to make difficult feelings feel gentler and more approachable. Sometimes my work gives shape to emotions that are hard to express; other times, it serves as a way to let them go, offering comfort through the art of making.

This exhibition, Above The Clouds, Where We Sleep is a series of wool paintings that explores friendship, self-love, and personal transformation through the story of a girl who lives in a tower and her companion, a bearcat. While presented as a whimsical narrative, the work is rooted in my own experiences of growth, acceptance, and learning to find comfort within myself.

The bearcat is inspired by a personal story that reflects the idea that we are made up of many parts—past and present, familiar and changing—and that these parts can coexist to create something whole. The girl in the tower represents different versions of the self shaped by memories, experiences, and transitions. The tower serves as both a refuge and a place of reflection, where she learns to understand and accept who she is becoming. Through her friendship with the bearcat, she discovers companionship not only in another being but also within herself.

The slow, repetitive process of needle felting allows me to build surfaces layer by layer, mirroring the way personal growth happens little by little over time. I see softness not just as a material, but as a way of feeling and living. Wool allows me to express care, strength, and gentleness, and to create spaces where it is okay to be vulnerable.

Through softness, storytelling, and made up characters, I hope to create a space where viewers can reflect on their own experiences of change, connection, and self-acceptance. At its heart, this exhibition is about learning to embrace who we are and finding comfort in the journey of becoming.
